We had a great turnout this week and enjoyed a great session including Hockey and Boccia. Ray led the warm up before each kid grabbed a hockey stick and ball and started dribbling. After a while they tried to stick to dribbling along the white lines on the hall floor. Valentina then led a traffic light game before the kids then started dribbling between cones laid out on the floor. The kids then paired up for passing across the hall to each other. Slowly and carefully at first but as they got more comfortable with it they increased the speed of their passing. We then did some shooting practice. This started with dribbling up the hall around the cones before shooting at the goals marked out by the benches. Valentina was the goalkeeper trying to keep out all the shots, with Ollie helping as well. After the main break we put all that practice to good use with some small sided games. The group split in to three teams who each played each other. First up it was the green team against the blues with the green team eventually winning a close contest by four goals to two. The blues then stayed on to face the yellow team but did not fare any better as they lost by six goals to one, with Kerrie scoring a few of the yellow teams goals. That left the two winning teams to face off against each other. The game couldnt be closer and the teams ending up drawing six goals a piece. We finished off the session with a few games of boccia with the group splitting in to two teams at either end of the hall, with the aim of getting as many balls as possible in to the hoops in the middle of the hall. At the end of the session we all sang Happy Birthday to Todd whose special day is this week. Ray then presented the Star of the Week awards to Kerrie and Vikram who both did really well throughout the session, as did all the kids.
We hope to see you all again next Saturday when we should have Alan back and we will be playing different sports. After what seemed like a very long Easter break it was good to be back at Sportability club this Saturday. We started the session as usual with a warm up led by Ray and then our initial sport this week was football out on the playground. We started off with some dribbling with the ball around cones laid out by Ray and Alan. Valentina then led a traffic light game. We then add some shooting practice to the end of the dribbling. Lastly, we split in to two teams for a game before the break with the yellow team coming out victorious against the blue team by four goals to two. After the break we were back in the hall playing some parachute games and Todd's Buzz Lightyear toy got in on the fun too! We then finished off the session with a variety of Putting games. The group split in to four small teams and to start with they were just trying to pace their putts so that the ball would stop in on of the hoops. Then we started to remove hoops so that they had less to target and had to be better with their aim. Lastly, we started scoring how many each team managed to get in, on each round. At the end of the session the coaches decided on our star performers and this week it was Alexander and Todd - well done lads!
Join us again next Saturday for more fun and games - we will be without Alan as he has the week off to go watch the Rugby at Twickenham but the rest of us will be working hard to provide a great session! |
