Our last session of the Autumn Term saw us play some Football outside on the playground before we came inside to play some Boccia. Ray got us all warmed up before we did some ball control drills dribbling the ball around. Ollie then led a traffic light game. We then did some dribbling and shooting practice with the kids lining up to dribble the ball around markers before shooting at the goal. After a drinks break we then played a game with Kerrie scoring the winning goal for her team. After the main break we finished off with some games of Boccia inside. The group split in to two groups and played a variety of Boccia games. All that remains is to wish one and all a very Merry Christmas from us all at Epping Forest Sportability Club and a Happy New Year! We will back for Spring term on Saturday 6th January - same time and same place. See you then.... We had a great session of cricket on Saturday at Epping Forest Sportability Club. We had a great turnout which made for a lot of fun. Ray led a much needed warmup before we got in to some throwing and catching practice. Working in pairs the kids firstly just threw the ball to each other to practice their catching. Then a spot was placed on the floor between them for them to do a bounce pass on, which meant accuracy when they threw the ball. The group split in to two for a game of Champion. Ray led one half of the group and Alan the other with Hal and Davina winning their respective groups. We finished off with some batting practice trying to hit the ball off a tee and between cones at the other end of the hall. After the break the kids put all that practice to use in a game of Three Tee Cricket. The group split in to two teams and took in turns to bat and field. Like normal cricket the aim is to get as many runs as possible. Each batter takes it in turn to hit three balls off of three plastic tees. They then try and get as many runs between the wickets in the time it takes the fielding team to get the balls and tees back in position. In the first game Valentina's team went first and amassed 70 runs but Liam's team then managed to get 76. We had time for a second game and again it was Liam's team who came out victorious winning by 77 to 59 runs. It was another action packed session and at the end Alan and his coaches awarded the Star of the Week awards to Liam and Kealan for their efforts and participation throughout the morning. Well done lads! Join us again next Saturday for our last Saturday of the term as we head in to the festive season. Feel free to wear Christmas attire if you like and bring in a festive snack with your drink. Alan may even sing a carol or two! It was bitterly cold Saturday morning but that did not stop our members turning up to enjoy some great activities at Epping Forest Sportability Club. Admittedly it started slow with only a few members there at 10am but others slowly turned up and we had a really great morning. Ray led the much needed warm up before it was out with the hockey sticks and some ball control practice. The kids started with just dribbling the ball with their stick. Then they had to try to stick to the lines on the hall floor. Ollie then led a traffic light game before we moved on to dribbling around cones. The skills practice paused for a bit of fun as the kids formed a tunnel (like a caterpillar really) to see if each person in turn could hit the ball straight through every other person's legs. We then finished off the skills practice with some dribbling and shooting. After the main break we put all that skills practice to good use with a game. We split in to the blue and yellow team and despite the yellows taking a 6-2 lead the blue team stormed back to tie the match at 9-9. It was then winning goal and despite some close attempts at the blue goal it was Coach Alan who won the game for the blues beating Ray in the yellow team goal. We finished off the session with a few quick games of Benchball. The group stayed in the same teams and the yellows won a close first game but the blues got their revenge in the second game. Our star performers this week were Todd and Anand - well done boys! See you again for our penultimate session before Christmas! |
