We welcomed another new member this week which was great to see - welcome Rayan! We also had a really good turn out which made for a busy session too. Our session this week centered mainly around the sport of Basketball. As always we started with a warm up and then went in to some skills practice. There were several drills that helped improve the members' ball handling skills and shooting skills, some of which you can see in the photos below. After all that skills practice the children had a short break for refreshments before getting stuck in to some team games. The session then ended with a few short games of football - making the most of a break in the rain and gloom to enjoy a moment of better weather out on the playground. As always, at the very end of the session the coaches got together to decide on who was star of the week and this week they chose one of our newer members. This just shows how quickly some of our newer members take to settle in and have some fun
To finish off the session we played a game of Benchball - always a great favourite and a good team game. it involves a lot of running around, throwing and catching but most importantly is team work and communication as each team aim to get all their players on to the bench. At the end of the session the coaches had to choose the Star of the Week and this week they chose Callum, one of our new members, as he took part in all the sports really well getting stuck in and showing great effort. Well done to Callum and all the kids for taking part so well. See you all again next week! |
