On 8 April 2014, EFSC was presented with a £3,000 grant from the Essex Millennium Fund.
EFSC was one of 22 Essex-based charities and voluntary organisations invited to attend a ceremony at the Essex Record Office. The fund, managed by the independent charitable trust Essex Community Foundation (ECF), gives ongoing support for initiatives to enhance the lives of people living in Essex. Cllr Kay Twitchen, Chairman of Essex County Council, praised all of the representatives of organisations present at the awards for their commitment, their energy and the care with which they delivered their services to meet local needs. She said “Essex is a large and diverse County and these Awards remind us of just what an asset we have in our voluntary sector. You bring so much joy, so much renewal and so much support to people of all ages and for whom life can be tough sometimes.” The Essex Millennium Fund was established as an endowed fund within Essex Community Foundation by members of Essex County Council to celebrate the Millennium. The fund, which provides an annual income for a grants programme, distributes funds to voluntary and community groups working within four priority areas: carers, community support, enhancing the environment and young people.
