We welcomed two more new members this week - a very warm welcome to Daniel and Louis. The session kicked off with some football and particularly practising some ball control skills with various drills. After the break we turned to a game of Boccia, a paralympic game similar to bowls, but as you can see we played a target version with the group split in to two teams playing from either end of the hall. After that was a game of benchball which was suitably frenetic. At the end of the session the coaches decided that Nicholas was the Star of the Week so well done Nick! We were very pleased to see four new boys at the Sportability Club this week, Tobias and Abraham attend Beal School in Ilford, Terrence who attends St Johns RC School in Woodford Green and also Robinson who comes to Oak View School. It was great to see them all joining in and having fun and we hope to see them all back this week. Welcome! Our session last Saturday started with a warm up including a game of Rob the Nest to get everyone running around. Our first main game was Goal Ball which we have not played for quite a while. They started with a practice passing the ball to each other before splitting the hall in to two 'pitches' to play some games. After a short break our last sport was Bench Ball which involves a lot of throwing, catching, running and team work. Ball control and team work being the themes for this week. Our star of the week was Abraham who really got stuck in on his very first day at the club. Well done Abraham
A great first week back after the half term break saw the session split in to two sports - rugby followed by hockey. In Rugby there were several skills based Tag Games including Dragon's Den and a passing game. In Dragon's den one person has to collect a ball and return it to their base before they are tagged by the dragons, who have to run around a cone before they can chase their "victim". After a short break they split into two teams for a game of hockey which was keenly contested. This week we also had a visit from Candee, our former coach, and her daughter Honey. It was great to see them both again and we wish Candee, Jimmy and Honey the very best for their new arrival in January. Candee was sporting a rather large 'bump'! At the end of the session the coaches decided that Zakaa was Star of the Week so well done Zakaa!
