It was good to be back after the half term break and we had some better weather so it was great to get out on the field for the whole session. As Euro 2016 has just got under way in France it was only fitting that we played some football, the first time we have dedicated a whole session to the sport in a very long time. After the usual warm up it was straight in to some work on ball control which included moving with the ball, dribbling around cones in a slalom and doing a figure of eight with the ball. They progressed on to some working in pairs passing the ball to each other. Then, after a break, we played a series of matches in the form of 5-a-side games, It was a great session and the kids were certainly very hot and sweaty by the end of it, I think we did a good job of using up their energy! A special mention has to be made to Malachi who came for the very first time this week and showed great enthusiasm from the moment he walked in the door to the end of the session. Quite rightly the coaches awarded him the star of the week award for all his efforts and the skills he showed playing football. Another big thank you goes out to Geraldine, one of the class teachers at Oakview, who came in on her day off to ensure Isaac (one of her pupils) was settling in okay and taking part in the activities. It is always very rewarding to see a new member start to enjoy themselves joining in with the sports being played. Comments are closed.
