It was nice to be out on the playground in the sunshine this week at Sportability Club. Ray led the warm up before it we got on to our main sport of Tennis. We started by trying to balance a tennis ball on our rackets. Then moving on to doing keepy uppy with the ball. After that it was hitting the ball between the racket and the ground. Lastly, we tried to bounce the ball on the ground and catch it on top of the racket. From there the group split in to pairs and they took it in turns to throw the ball to their partner for them to hit back. After a quick drinks break we moved on to playing some games of build a burger. This is where the kids go up and down the playground balancing a ball between rackets. With every turn one more player adds their ball and racket to the pile making it a very tricky balancing act and great for teamwork. Either side of the main break we played some games of King of the Court. Ollie would throw a tennis ball over the net and each player in turn had to try and return it over the net and in court without being caught out. Fail to get it over, get caught or not get it in to the court and you are out and join Ollie in trying to catch out other players. It is last person standing and in the first game we actually had two winners - Todd and Ellis. In the second game it was Kealan who emerged victorious. We finished off with some games of Tennis Rounders with each child getting a chance to bat and bowl. It was a great session and we were blessed with some really good weather. At the end of the session the Star of the Week awards were presented to Todd and Valentina from great effort throughout the session. Well done both!
It was also Anand's birthday this week and he kindly brought in the lovely cake below. Next week is our last before the half term break so we look forwards to seeing you all then. Comments are closed.
