The Sun was out so time for some Tennis at EF Sportability

3/5/2016

We saw signs of some summer weather this week so it was good to get outside on to the playground this week where our main sport was Tennis.
As you can see in the photos we started as always with a warm up followed by working on some basic skills. This week being Tennis themed we started with some basic ball work including working in pairs doing throwing and catching; balancing a ball on the racket and working up to passing the ball between each other.

After a short refreshment break it was time to put all those skills they had been practising in to use. It was time for our favourite Tennis game - King of the Court! Each player takes it in turn to return the ball back to the server using their racket. If they get the ball back over the net and in to the court without the ball being caught then they stay in and go to the back of the queue. However if you dont get the ball back over the net OR it goes out of the court OR you are caught then you are out and join the server on the other side of the net trying to catch  the ball. The aim being to be the last person standing and you become the King or Queen of the Court!
To finish off the session we had a quick game of football in the sun, just to burn off any energy left over. The coaches decided that Jessica was our Star of the Week but unfortunately our photographer had left already so we didnt get a photo of her with the coaches. Apologies for that but very well done Jessica for all your efforts.  We look forward to seeing you all back next week  - you never know if it stays dry and sunny we may even get to go out on to the field!
