What a coincidence! At the same time as Tiger Woods made his return to competitive golf we enjoyed some great Golf games ourselves. We didnt have the luxury of the carribean sun so had to make do with putting in the school hall but everyone had a great time. After the usual warm up of streches and jogging it was out with the putters and soft balls for a series of games all aimed at improving the putting skills of our members. The first game was to putt along the hall towards the bench with the winner being the person whose ball ended up closest to the bench. Therefore, hit too hard and it will bounce back but too soft and it might not make it. Ollie led the way not only demonstrating what to do but also getting closest. The next game was putting trying to get the ball in to one of the holes, the white rings in the photos below. This game proved particularly tricky! Next up was a putting game involving cones. The kids took it in turns to have a go with the idea being to hit as many cones as possible. Those you hit you keep and the person who has collected the most cones by the end of the game being the winner. Therefore, with lots of cones at the start of the games but less and less as the game went on it got harder and harder to hit and collect the cones. At the end when we counted up it was Jessica with seven cones who was the winner. The last game before a drinks break was a target game using the big targets. After the break we moved on to our last putting game. Each player took it in turns to putt the ball between the gap between the two benches at the other end of the hall. Those who succeeded went on to the next round and at the end of each round the gap between the benches got smaller. At the end it was down to three players for the win - Anand, Kerrie and Theo. It took two rounds to get a clear winner with Theo managing to putt the ball through the smallest of gaps to win the game! After the golf the kids had a well earned snack break before moving on to a basketball team game. We had practiced all the skills in previous weeks so it was straight in to a game. It was great to see all the children playing together with the best moment being little Liam trying to shoot past James - who is rather tall! At the end of the session Hal was chosen by the coaches for his efforts throughout the session as Star of the Week. A notable mention must also go to little Theo for winning the golf. A very well done to both boys! Join us next week for more fun - just two more weeks left before Christmas! Comments are closed.
